I think I’ve finally found a backpack that works for me, one that is comfortable to wear, is versatile, fits all of my gear when I’m out on those adventures and also looks good.
The K&F Concept 20L Backpack, part of K&F’s beta collection, I purchased the bag in their most flamboyant colour, orange, but if something this out there is not to your taste, it does come in other colours.
I’ve been through a lot of bags and for one reason or another, I’ve just not got on with them, I’ve had the old classic bag (which has been relegated to my work bag), I’ve tried the over the shoulder smaller bag (storage issues), the rustic looking bag, and most recently, the single strap over the shoulder bag which definitely was uncomfortable to wear for me, so I decided to go for this one, which I’ve now had for a few months now and I think I’ve finally found my one.
So if you’re a photographer or videographer looking for a versatile and spacious bag, this might be one for you. The first thing you’ll notice is that this is a very sleek and stylish backpack. The main orange colour complimented by the panels of green.
High quality build and design
The high quality finish shown by the really nice stitching around every surface of the bag, from the stitching on the K&F concept tag to the stitching around the all of seems. It’s made out of high density nylon, almost smooth to touch, which gives the bag its 900D waterproof coating, which means it can withstand rain and splashes. In times of heavier showers, It also comes with a rain cover for that extra protection.
It has two main compartments. The smaller upper section, accessible by undoing the main buckle and a concealed zip for a top-loading opening for easy access, can be used for storing your personal items, such as clothes, wallet, phone, or even camera equipment that you need less regularly than instant. Within this section, it has pockets, for you to put other accessories and if you want more space within your main section, then you can remove the velcro section and your main compartment becomes even bigger.
The lower main compartment, accessible zip (behind the zip for the upper compartment, which completely opens the back section and can be restricted to not open fully by adjustable straps, means you can open the whole front panel and see all your gear at once. In the main compartment, you’re going to be storing your main camera gear, such as camera body, lenses, flash, and maybe even a drone.
As well as access from the back, it also has a side open design, which means you can access your camera quickly without opening the whole backpack and within that padded side panel there are more compartments that you can store spare batteries and memory cards.
You’ll get 7 removable and totally customisable dividers, that allow you to customise the main compartment layout, exactly how you want it and tailored to the equipment you carry. As a standard, they recommend that you can fit up to one camera and five lenses, or a drone, in this compartment.
For people who like to carry a laptop around with them, there is a padded laptop compartment on the back secured via another velcro strap, which can fit up to a 15.6 inch laptop (ideal for my 15″ MacBook Air).
While some bags hold your tripod to the side, on the front of this bag, a tripod holder is able to house a full size tripod, which is held in place with two adjustable straps, and finally there’s also has a side pocket for a water bottle or even a small tripod.
Comfort and convenience
The backpack is very comfortable to wear, thanks to the padded shoulder straps and the back panel. The shoulder straps have a removable chest strap to help distribute the weight and stabilise the backpack even more if you require it. I’ve found that because this bag is so good at the weight distribution, even when there is loads of camera gear inside, I’ve not needed to use this yet.
When you go travelling, for added convenience, you can attach the backpack to a rolling suitcase using the luggage strap on the back.
This backpack is very spacious and depending on how you divide those compartments, can be well-organised, and it can hold a lot of gear and personal items. Many bags like this take advantage of that side entry to the main compartment, and that’s what I really like about this bag, swing the bag around, open the side and you’ve got instant access to your camera and for your less instantly required gear, those can go in the top section.
This bag, a very durable, water-resistant, comfortable and versatile backpack. Although it’s great for photographers and videographers to carry around on their shoots, it’s also a great backpack for traveling, hiking and even everyday use.
