The monitor light, not many people realise how beneficial this desk accessory can be. But now, this health beneficial monitor accessory now features RGB lighting that can aid your gaming experience with a touch of added immersion.
If you’ve already got a monitor light attached to your monitor, then I’m sure you’ll already know the benefits of having a monitor light, but for those of you that don’t, these reduce eye strain caused by those long arduous sessions of just starring at your computer screen by providing adequate lighting for both your screen and desk, especially during those long working hours where before you’ve noticed, darkness has set in and you’re working in the dark.
If you get headaches, blurred vision, or fatigue because of those long hours, then you should try one of these because it’s most likely affecting your productivity and well-being.
This Quntis RGB monitor light, is about 40cm long made out of aluminium, with an LED lamp on the top and bottom surface.
The bottom desk lamp, which is designed for it’s number one objective of simultaneously illuminating both your desk and keyboard, emitting that only light downwards and not towards your eyes, which is what the average desktop lamp with do and the top RGB lamp, which is designed to create colourful ambient lighting behind your monitor.
The light module is fully tiltable to allow you to position the light exactly how you want it creating a 45 degree unique asymmetrical light, that’s never going to shine in your eyes, only the desk in front of you.
As you can see from this side view, the only area that is illuminated, is everything within that 45 degree segment, nothing outside it.
On the sides of the light module there’s a touch control panel that lets you control each of the two functional lights independently. On the left side marked with a W, a single press turns it on and a long press turns it off. To scroll through the customisations, a single press when it’s on switches between it’s three colour temperatures, warm white, natural white and true white. A further quick two touch, will cycle between the three different brightnesses, 100%, 50% and 25%. The colour temperature and brightness you go for will depend on your preferences and obviously, what time of day it is.
But you do want to make sure, which ever setting you choose, that the light is evenly distributed across your desk without creating any shadows and reflections.
On the right side, single press to turn on, long press to turn off, and a single touch will cycle between the 15 RGB modes, in three categories, monochrome, with it’s 1 slow transition between all colours, then 7 static light choices, a dual-colour gradient, which gives you 6 choices of two colours in a wave transitions, and finally the multicolour gradient, which cycles through all of the available colours in a nice transition and the choice that I usually go for.
The RGB light is meant to enhance your gaming experience to create a more immersive atmosphere. The lights produced are bright enough to create a noticeable glow behind your monitor, but not too bright to distract you from your game.
When you turn both lights off at the end of the day, there is a in built memory function, that remembers your last setting, so you won’t have to make those same adjustments every time you turn it on.
There’s a non removable 1.5m USB cable attached to the light module, which on the more premium monitor lights, there’s a USB-C slot and the cable is detachable. So depending on your setup and where your power outlets are, you may or not struggle with the 1.5m cable, but if that’s an issue you can also purchase cable extenders.
This is easy to install, the fixing clip’s design with that spherical ball means that fitting this moves away from the clamping style installation that many other monitor lights adopt, which sometimes tends to limit the types of monitors that they are compatible with. This is suitable for all displays that are between 1–3cm thick but not for curved screens and laptops, as you can see here, it fits perfectly on my 27 inch monitor.
The guard at the front hooks onto the screen securing it from any backward movement and the counterweight ball can be positioned appropriately depending on your screen size.
On the ball and the underside of the fixing clip, there is a soft rubber surface that creates this almost immovable object gripping force between the two surfaces making it more secure.
All you need to do now is position the light bar up or down to suit your viewing angle and you’re ready to benefit from this in your setup.
This is going to be a great product for gamers and anyone who wants to add some extra lighting and colour to their own setup and doesn’t want to buy those expensive wall RGB lights, especially to an area that’s behind the monitor.
It has features and functions that will make it versatile and beneficial to you, by helping reduce eye fatigue and improve your focus. It’s not perfect, and it may not work for everyone, but for the price and quality, I think it’s worth a try.
And at under 30 dollars or pounds on Amazon, which is quite reasonable for a monitor light especially one with a RGB backlight, that’s a bargain.
