Having used the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro almost daily for the past four months, I can confidently say it’s (OA5 Pro) an impressive upgrade from the Osmo Action 3. Sharp, stable, and compact, it’s already a very useful piece of technology straight out of the box (for my useful).

This semi-rigid case offers robust protection, being shockproof, compression-resistant, and splash-resistant. Inside, custom foam inserts with precise cutouts provide snug compartments for mounts, SD cards, ND filters, and the camera itself (best fitted with its cage). A mesh zip pocket secures loose items like batteries, cables, and other small essentials. The organised layout means no more rattling or searching for gear.
The Metal Combo Cage: Enhancing Durability and Functionality
The metal combo cage is more than just protective gear, it has transformed the way how I use my Osmo Action 5 Pro. Crafted from durable aluminium, this 54g cage is rugged yet lightweight, offering a significant upgrade over the standard DJI cage.
Its design includes a cold shoe mount on top and a 1/4-inch thread on the side, allowing you to attach a microphone and light simultaneously without additional adapters and mounts. The cage provides easy access to all camera ports and buttons, including record, power, the touchscreen, USB-C port, and battery compartment — all without needing to remove the camera from the cage.
There is also a hand strap hole, perfect for securing your camera in challenging terrains. Additionally, the quick-release side section makes battery swaps effortless, saving time when shooting on the go. The cage (like the standard DJI cage) supports quick switching between horizontal and vertical shooting, maintaining compatibility with DJI mounts and tripods.
Final Thoughts
Together, these three accessories elevate the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro from a great action camera to a fully functional shooting setup. They streamline charging, organisation, and rigging, making your gear more efficient and travel-ready.
